Services

We are a community arts company (CIC) specialising in video production. We produce films that promote, among others, housing providers work and for use as training resources and consultation and evaluation purposes. We also deliver a wide range of community-based projects, designed to engage, inspire and inform residents. These include running Women’s groups, art projects, social eating projects, youth projects, film clubs (in social housing extra care settings) for isolated older people, and community growing projects on local estates. We have experience working with hard-to-reach communities, people with additional needs and refugee and asylum seekers.

Location

The Videobox, The Elderdale Community Centre, Yewdale Gardens, Bolton, BL2 5JF

We are based in Breightmet, Bolton in a local community centre and deliver sessions and services both from here and across the borough. We have also done filming and project work for other organisations across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

Social Value

Through our projects, participants report increased confidence and wellbeing, less isolation, a reduction in the barriers to employment and a greater involvement with their communities . Any surplus created through our work is reinvested back into supporting our community through the production of free or reduced rate videos for local groups and charities. We try to buy all materials locally and support local business, particularly other social enterprises. We have developed strong community links and partnerships and signpost people into relevant further support.

We offer volunteering opportunities and work experience placements to help residents improve their employment prospects. We support the deaf community. Beneficiaries have access to learn from a deaf photography tutor and through our volunteer BSL interpreter. We also accommodate many autistic beneficiaries, ensuring our learning environment and practice is accessible to as many people as possible.

Case Study

We have worked with Bolton at Home consistently for the last 10 years, both producing videos for them as an organisation and also for their community projects. We have a strong relationship with them and they regularly commission us to also deliver sessions and projects with their tenants.

“I’ve worked with thevideobox.tv for about seven years now. They’re flexible, dynamic and really easy to work with. They’re passionate about what they do, community focused and always creative in their approach.” Gaynor Cox, Bolton at Home.
