"What happened to Awaab must never happen again"

A statement from our Chair, Charlie Norman, on the death of Awaab Ishak. 

“Everyone across the Greater Manchester Housing Providers partnership is deeply saddened by the death of Awaab Ishak, and our thoughts are with Awaab’s family at this tragic time.

Providing safe, decent homes, and ensuring the voice of all customers is heard and acted on is fundamental to what we do as housing providers. It is absolutely vital that we take action whenever we fall short of that.

A commitment to working collaboratively and learning from each other is at the heart of what GMHP is about. We will work closely together with our partners in Greater Manchester and the wider sector to help lead the change needed to ensure this tragedy isn’t repeated. What happened to Awaab must never happen again.”
