We warmly congratulate Andy Burnham MP on his success in Makerfield. We would also like to offer our gratitude having worked closely with Andy since 2017 as our Mayor here in Greater Manchester.

GMHP works closely with the GM mayoral office and undertakes influencing work with a range of key stakeholders to bring about change to help us build more homes and deliver more services to our customers and communities.

Our partnership is proud to be a part of delivering public services across Greater Manchester and to work with our partners to improve the quality of lives for all. We have enjoyed a positive working relationship with the GM Mayor, Andy Burnham, and the GM Housing First Portfolio Lead, Paul Dennett, and we have worked with the Mayor and his team at Greater Manchester Combined Authority with a pioneering Tripartite Agreement in place – with a mission to ensure that everyone in GM has a safe, healthy and affordable home.

Following his success at the Makefield by-election, Andy Burnham has now been elected as an MP, and we wish him well as he enters Parliament. We look forward to continuing our positive relationship with Andy. The Greater Manchester mayoral by-election is on 30 July, and we look forward to developing a positive relationship with the successful candidate.

By the end of the summer, Greater Manchester’s political landscape could look very different, with further changes anticipated ahead of 2027. GMHP will take this as an opportunity to continue our stakeholder engagement and influencing strategies, ensuring relationships are aligned with the evolving political environment.
