SAHP announcement 'vote of confidence in Greater Manchester’s ambition to deliver'
Greater Manchester Housing Providers welcome today’s announcement from Homes England confirming the organisations selected as Strategic Partners for the government’s new £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme, the largest investment in social and affordable housing in a generation.
The programme will support delivery of thousands of new social rent and affordable homes across England, through long term partnerships and multi year grant funding. Homes England has confirmed 33 Strategic Partners, who will work with the agency and regional leaders to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and create thriving places. GMHP is pleased to see six GMHP members, Clarion Housing Group, Jigsaw Homes Group Ltd, Great Places Housing Group, Onward Homes, Sanctuary and Together Housing Group selected as Strategic Partners to support its delivery.
Alison Dean, CEO of Great Places Housing Group and GMHP’s Supply Lead said: “This announcement is a major vote of confidence in Greater Manchester’s ambition to deliver the genuinely affordable homes our communities need. The investment through the Social and Affordable Homes Programme will help accelerate the delivery of much-needed homes across the city region, giving more people access to safe, high-quality housing and supporting our wider ambitions for growth, inclusion and opportunity.
“Through the Greater Manchester Homes Partnership, we look forward to continuing to work alongside Homes England, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, local authorities and housing partners to maximise the impact of this funding and help deliver the homes that customers and communities urgently need.”
